The biggest change to Google’s AdWords in 15 years is here. The new Expanded Text Ads (ETAs) are now live. On the surface, it looks like Google has made a few formatting alterations, and thrown in a more generous character count.

Expanded Text Ads: How your ads could look….

These changes are…
– Two headlines of 30 characters each (replacing the previous single headline of 25 characters)
– 80 characters worth of description (replacing two lines of 35 each)

When using the new ETAs…
– Expect increased click-through rates thanks to better ads
– Cost per acquisition may increase (stronger competition on generic terms)
– Mobile traffic may increase, as more informative ads appeal to this audience
