Dando

Once again, we’re crossing off another month for 2016 – and that means another Dando Day is on its way.

Leading up to each Dando Day, we find ourselves reflecting on what we’ve accomplished for our clients. And although we’re proud of our achievements, we never stop looking for opportunities to grow and better ourselves. That’s where Dando Day fits in for us as an evolving agency. On Dando Days, we take a step back and look at our agency as a whole, then take action to strengthen our skills and expertise for our clients.

Today, we were thinking back to our April Dando Day, when each team member presented their personal contributions to Dando on a t-shirt (yes, you heard right – we were t-shirt designers for the day!) Being a quirky collective of unique individuals, we knew the exercise would bring up some interesting results – see it for yourself.

It’s not that our Founder, Steve, misses his school days. The real philosophy behind the t-shirt is that with each day comes an opportunity to learn something new. In the digital space, a new trend or technological update pops up daily, and we’re committed to being the first to implement the best of them for our clients as soon as we learn about it.

Ordinary actions produce ordinary outcomes. That’s why our Clients’ Guy, Jeremy, is adamant on differentiating Dando from other digital agencies in Melbourne. At Dando, we’re all about providing our clients with personalised services and bespoke solutions.

Emily The Editor’s design is where high fashion meets complete functionality. The ampersand depicts presenting important stuff in a simple, yet effective way, while knowing there’s always something to learn. While yellow her favourite colour, it’s also her personal reminder to stay bright – even when delving into the depths of a long project.

Martin, or “Smartin” as he likes to call himself, is all about adapting to the ever-changing digital world (and not freaking out when something goes wrong). Like the essence of Dando itself, he fills the gaps where required and makes it stronger.

Sam The Designer Man decorated his t-shirt with an exquisite Venn diagram. For him specifically, he holds himself as the brain to integrating three critical components for an engaging website: site speed, content and UX. This integrated approach is something we put into all of the work we do for clients. After all, flawless integration between team members and clients is the real difference between good and extraordinary outcomes.

Olivia is no stranger to the limitless possibilities available in the digital space. Her design represents the undefeatable spirit that Dando carries in the work we do for our clients. We’re always looking for a way to streamline processes and constantly improve our work for our clients.

Mark, The Marketing Guy, puts forth a philosophy in taking personal responsibility to create change – it’s not enough to just go with the flow. At Dando, we’re leading change and making waves in the digital agency space – in fact, we were one of the first agencies to implement responsive web design in the state! The team is constantly evolving in our skills and knowledge for the next digital wave.

We love good content – obsessed with it. But do you know what we also love at Dando? Conversions! Viral’s design highlights that some managers end up having too much fun with their budgets to create entertaining campaigns with little to no return on investment. At Dando, we’re acutely aware of the real role that our content plays in not only engaging audiences but also improving our clients’ bottom line.

Yes – we were also confused when we first read Tanvir’s t-shirt. But in English, it translates to “why so serious?”. In its essence, Tanvir shares a more serious side of digital agency life and the back-end development work we do at Dando. Being the Senior PHP Developer, Tanvir holds great responsibility in making sure a website or platform does what it’s supposed to do. Constantly at work in the shadows, he really is the Batman to our Justice League.

Photo of Manie's Dando Day t-shirt design.Manie says, “Between coffee, hacking and curiosity is where I make magic.”

It’s true. Nothing can get in between Manie and his morning coffee, but this is all for good reason. Charged with caffeine, he brings to the team an innate curiosity and commitment to streamline processes. At Dando, we work hard to keep our promises to clients. And if a little magic is what it’s going to take to get it done, a little magic is what you’ll get.

Judgement day for our Dando Day t-shirt designs.

Photo of Tanvir's winning Dando Day t-shirt design. Now we love a little friendly competition at Dando (you should see our mini table tennis tournaments we have at the office). So we put it down to an open vote to decide which t-shirt design was the best one. And there was one clear winner by the end of the month – and that was Tanvir.

With each Dando Day, we strengthen our resolve as a team to not only evolve ourselves as an agency but as proponents of the digital arts. This t-shirt task is only one of the many different things we get up to on our monthly Dando Days to improve ourselves and consequently, the work we do for our clients.

If you’re keen on seeing more of what we do on Dando Day, be sure to follow us on our social media accounts with Facebook, Instagram and Twitter tomorrow (Friday 3rd of June 2016). Or check out some of the other work we do for our clients here.
