A Facebook Facelift For Video

February 24, 2016
TECH UPDATES

As much as Facebook likes to portray itself as friendly and approachable, the company has been working hard to shed its chill-dude social space exterior. Facebook wants to be a fully-fledged corporate marketing platform. And with these new updates to their Business Page videos interface and data metric points they just may have done it. Facebook has got their game face on as they continue to ride on their ad-free videos advantage over YouTube.

With Facebook videos becoming a leader in formats of online content, you are going to need to check out these new features. And we’re going to make it easy for you: just keep scrolling.

Facebook Updates

Feature 1: Minutes Viewed

This will tell you the total amount of time users have spent watching the video (and maybe an interesting estimation of the total duration of your viewers’ procrastination). The higher the number, the more of your video content is being consumed.

Feature 2: 10-Second Views

Did you “wow” them straight off the bat or leave them cold and hungry too long? This figure tells you how many times the video was watched beyond the first 10 seconds; or for videos shorter than 10 seconds, it counts how many times that at least 97% of the video was watched. Compare this stat with the number of total views the video has to get an idea of how quickly your video captivates the audience. If you have a low number of 10-second views, you may need to review and improve the all-important starts of your video content.

Feature 3: Sound On vs. Off

Does your audience give a toss about what music you chose or what vocal messages and sounds you’ve embedded in your video? Perhaps your audience has little access or relevance to the audio cues you’ve used. Knowing whether your viewers have sound on or off will give you great insight into this, and may save you a lot of time and money for your next video content production.

These winning upgrades will only serve to widen the smiles of business owners, who can now get to know their audience a little better. If you want to get closer to your online audiences and customers, have a chat to the team at Dando and get those online conversations going!
